News for the New Year!

Oh, wow! What an embarrassment of riches. On our calendar, I mean.

Sure, amid all the mid-winter angst and gloom, with the “after holiday” let-down, and the “misery index”, we should all be glum. Not.

January, and time, just keeps marching on! How did half a month already slip away?

One thing is certain: Focusing on the negatives won’t fix any problem. And while we all need to make some adjustments, this day, this month, this year, are all a gift. We have the opportunity to make the most of it, and that’s what we here at BDC fully intend to do.

(Sorry about all the ‘metaphysical’ stuff. It was “On Sale” at the shop across the street, so I stocked up. I just couldn’t help myself!)

Back in the real world, I’ve been looking at our calendar of upcoming events, and I am getting excited by the wonderful opportunities that are coming our way.

I’m not going to get into all of the dates and details; Calla has them all listed in our calendar. I just want to mention the wide variety of experiences we have available for you this quarter.

First, the Trunk Shows! Scotty Beads will be here in just a couple of weeks, at the end of January. Janu Beads is coming in February, and Adrienne Montgomery will be here in early March. At the end of March, we will say sadly say “adieu” to our friend, Suschu, (Susanne Schumann) with an Estate Sale.

But enough of Trunk Shows! What about Classes? Thank you for asking! Lynn Dyer is teaching the art of the Japanese loom at the end of January. (Did you know that BDC is the Official, and only, US retail outlet for the highly regarded TOHO Looms? How cool is that?)

Because you asked for it, Wendy Robinson is bringing at least one, (and sometimes two) of her popular PMC classes here each month, for the next four months!

While we are at it, you need to know how proud we are of all of our instructors, and that our customers have found them all to be outstanding. That being said, some have additional credentials that give them national standing. One such instructor is Linea Kinsky, who has studied with Margo Fields. Another is Brent Nordstrom, who, while new to us, has established himself as an authority in Advanced Wirework, addressing what to do with cabochons and the use of unusual materials, such as square wire. Give their classes a special look: We think you’ll be impressed.

Finally, “economy” seems to be the word that everyone is talking about these days. We believe that “economy” is best achieved by searching for and selecting the best “value”. And that’s what we offer at BDC: The best value for the money. Count on it.

P.S. I’ll get complaints if I forget to mention Beau’s Birthday. He turns 8 on January 21^stand makes a huge contribution to the ambiance of the shop. He loves coming to work each day, and greeting his friends and admirers. We are blessed to have him.

In this informative workshop, learn the basic techniques for working with PMC. Through demonstrations and inspiring original samples, you will be guided to design, create and finish your projects. Leave class with at least 2 silver pieces: earrings, charms and a pendant. All materials and tools provided. Additional clay, stones, and some supplies will also be available at the end of class for an additional fee.
